Movie and Music Editing

Hey guys, i need help with shrinking my movie file and wave file. i want to have them on my website, but since the files are so big it takes them forever to load when you view the site. i have a 768/768 DSL and the music (.wav) takes 30 minutes to work, and the movie takes close to 2 hours to view. what program or how can i shrink the files so that they dont take so long to view when visiting the website? let me know, thanks

I've just been to your site, your movies and sound played fast enough for me (on 512k cable)

Am I right in assuming you've overcome your problem ?

As an aside, your "about me" page throws a 404 error

thats not the ite i am talking about. and ya, i took the about me off becuase i didn't want it there. i just never got to deleteing the link. but i am making a new site and it takes forever. thoe movies and sounds are from my friend at MCC.com there not mine. mine are going here
www.mattdapimp.tk and the sound takes forever to load.

What's the difference between your movies/sounds and your mates ? (apart from the file size)

I tryed out the mattdapimp.tk site. The sound took forever to load and then played for 2 seconds. Is the file corrupted?

No, its not corrupt, when i play it on my computer it works for the whole song. its van halen- Jump.wav it works fine for me after i let it load for 45 minutes and then the whole song plays. how do i shrink the file? its like 3389000 bytes. how do i make it smaller so it doesn't take so dang long to load?

Post a direct link to your wav file andI 'll play with the software I've got and see if I can reduce it (no promises ;-) )

if you can upload it as an attachment (would need to be a zip) then cool, but it's liable to be to big.

If it is, just post a link to where it is on the web ie www.website.com/music.mid

Try converting the wav file to an mp3. There's lots of free programs that will do it for you.

that should do it, if not i will try to find a file with limewire to change from wav to mp3

Hi Hogdogfatkat,

Ok, 2 problems, the first is that the wav file you have is "corrupted" - it won't play in most of the music software that I've got.

The 2nd is, you seem to have a problem with your server, I could only download your file @1.04Kbs (as opposed to 60+Kbs as a norm)

Anyway, I managed to create an uncorrupted version of your tune and convert it to mp3 for you (the file's to big to attach so I've uploaded it here), you'll find the file a tad smaller so it loads faster.

For future use, here's some links to wav/mp3 converters (you get 'n' conversions free)
