    Post background generation

My partner has asked me to build a web site for her photography company. She has a great logo that I want to use (tiled) as her background. How can I take the logo and fade it out, or whatever I need to in order to use it as a background image?

You'll need to get some sort of image manipulation program. Most scanners and digital cameras come with some cheap software that will do this for you.

I have three of them. I have Adobe Photo shop, MGI Photosuite, and Paint Shop Pro 5.

What effect would I do to the image to make useful as a background?

I guess that depends on what you want to do with it. If you're looking to fade it out, try going to image>Adjust>Brightness/Contrast, and playing with the sliders until you get what you're looking for.
